Our Story
Winery Lomartire crowns a dream rooted in the culture and history of a region with a long tradition of high-quality viticulture.
The winery’s founding father was Giovanni Lomartire, born in 1972, embarked on this journey with the woman who would later become his wife, Mina Lomartire.
Giovanni was born into a family of farmers. At 19, after careful consideration of the circumstances and conditions affecting local winegrowing at the time, he chose an alternative career path which took him far from home for several years. Yet Giovanni never forgot or stopped loving his home region.
In 1999, driven by a desire to reconnect with his roots, he decided to stay close to the place that moved and resonated with him the most.
He and Mina invested all their savings to purchase a six-hectare plot of land in the Manduria countryside, marking the first chapter in their winemaking story. When they married in the year 2000, their lives became inextricably entwined with their vines.
The couple soon began planting their first vineyard, making numerous sacrifices to enable them to juggle their day jobs while working to build their future project. In 2005, they officially entered the world of winemaking.
The time came to make a choice. At that time, Primitivo di Manduria was gaining in popularity among Italian and international consumers. Giovanni and Mina decided to focus on producing high-quality wines sold on tap through wine shops.
A few years later, in 2010, the couple came into a family inheritance: 6 hectares of land in Torricella. Things started moving in the right direction; the business expanded and grew, as did their sales of draft wine.
